ans THEN, I have the Mesh package error. So the Meshes are not included in the pack ?!
Hmmm... this is indeed strange.
Maybe I find something... or someone else has a clue? Guys where are you?
Hi guys. I am new to ut skin maker. I wanted to have an easy way to make alternate skins for the models Ive been doing but I cant seem to get the program to recognize the umod or int files of custom models for a new project. any tips? i tied puting them in the custommodels folder and the programs root. tried v2.5beta and 2.41. no luck
Hello Papercoffee,
I've read your tutorial on using the skin maker but getting an error right out of the gate. I just want to edit the stock boss skin. Actually, I already have a BOSS skin but I need to add all of the team colors to it. Before I dive into EvilGrins way of creating the skin and editing the texture files and int. I want to see if I can get the skin maker working. As you stated in your post it shouldn't matter where you install the utsm25beta6 folder, correct? I have it on my desktop. And the link to the video below shows the issue that I'm having. Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong? https://youtu.be/UxCkoOqqr8c

Can someone help me?
Did you repeat the implementation of the talk picture?
Q) What is the talk texture?
A) The talk texture is the little picture that appears at the top of the screen in UT when you say something (usually a picture of the persons head). This is the easiest picture to create because it is just like a passport photo. To create the talk texture it must be a picture of 64 x 64 pixels. (I use a 24bit BMP file). You can just reduce a digital photo for this, but remember its only small, so detail will be lost if you do this.
Once created... to add in the talk texture, right click on "talk texture" and choose "add texture"
on the new box, click the "..." button and point it to your talk texture file. Leave the "< default >" bit alone - hit "ok"
If it has worked ok - you will now see your talk texture in the top left hand corner of the model preview.
IMPORTANT - You have to repeat the above again, and add the talk texture again (using the same picture file) - except this time change the "< default >" to something else - I.E. "sexyface". Faliure to do this will prevent you using your skin on the "bots" in UT (for some strange reason)
If done correctly, under "talk texture" in the skin editor box, you should now have "< default >" and then your own named talk texture (i.e. "sexy face") underneath that!

Hi welcome to the forum.
It's difficult to suggest what may be the problem without seeing/trying the skin but a couple of things to look at :
Is the talk texture correctly specified in the .int? No typos, right name and number, etc?
What does your UnrealTournament.log say when the skin is loaded?
The talk texture not showing up is a problem that I think has been raised on here before so it might be worth trying a key word search of the forum.
Is it right ?
The unrealtournament.log doesn't update :/

Just to note that double and triple posts are frowned upon on this forum.
Yes, the .int looks OK - provided, of course, that it contains the correct texture names.
Actually I've realised that the talk texture doesn't need to be in the .int at all - the two critical entries in the .int (for that model) are the default (no team) texture (with name) and the model's face (with name) - of course, the talk texture and the other skin textures need to be in the .utx file.
I can't see any obvious reason why the talk texture doesn't appear. Perhaps check it again in the .utx and make sure it is in the right format? You could try renaming the Face texture in the .utx something like purp4purp and in the .int putting Description=Purple after Class=Texture; also try renaming the Talk Texture purp5.purp in the .utx and the .int as well.
Okay, when I said send me the .utx I mean like attach the file for an upload I could check on my system... but you did post a screenshot of your .int so I see the problem.
Your .int isn't setup correctly... and as it's a reflection of your .utx that means it isn't setup right either.
So, from what I can see there, your skin isn't setup with any team colors. Your face is the "purp5" texture, so I want you to change that to "purp5face" in both the .int and .utx files. Doesn't have to be "face" added on but you need something after the "5".
I'm attaching screenshots of the .int & .utx for the Brass skin, I often find when I'm confused by something it helps to reference other skins of the same model I'm working.
It may be necessary to alter the "purp4" as well, definitely should have a "Description" line, but just do the "5" and see how that works first.
