Really I only envision the new section to be as relevant as the token Multiplayer section of UnrealSP.
We are not trying to branch-out or support U227, only acknowledge that there is a crossover that needs its own space.
If you go to UnrealSP to ask for help using SP and Unreal elements in a UT99 game, you will be looked down upon by some of the regulars.
Why ? Is that not a reasonable place to go ?
Not for the dirty half-breed it seems. It isn't this and it isn't that, so we better ignore it.
If an Unreal player has installed a botpack and wants help with UT, would here not be a good place to find help ?
There are many SP campaigns intended for Unreal that will work in UT (and several made for UT+Oldskool). Those that have been posted here have remained in their original section (usually Mapping, Modifications or Downloads), because as they do work in UT99 with Oldskool, they are no longer Off-Topic.
Any other U-games including Unreal 227 only posts, get moved to Off-Topic (1 notable recent exception).
This has already left us with a bunch of Unreal 1 postings and questions mixed with the UT stuff.
As I have seen this mixed Unreal/UT content posted over the years, I have tried to search here for it and been infuriated at how difficult it is without a precise spelling of what you want (assuming you know anyway).
We are not encouraging people to post old Unreal stuff "because it is allowed". Only new Unreal stuff that does not use 227 functions, and will work with Oldskool.
As you say, the U227 engine surpasses UT in every way, but if people use the new classes (and people we insist you do) then there will be nothing to post here, and so the problem solves itself
In reverse it also gives a place for help with UT back-ports to Unreal, at any point the user can continue at another site as an enhanced 227 version.
eg. If someone is working on a port of botpack.u, then here is as good a place as most to ask for help with it, just the same as if they were porting UPak.u (I know they are already done, but they are a good example of equal opposites).
A UT99 SP map with the weapons swapped to U1 (easier done in UEd2.1 + botpack) can be made for and with UT but with Unreal in mind.
Help from UT99 mappers with SP/MH experience is also valuable here, and increases the likelihood that both communities get something new to play with, as it increases the pool of brains they can draw from (even though most also lurk at OldUnreal).
An Unreal-ish section was always going to spit the community (ironic),
I will rename slightly and adjust the description to be more informative and exclusive.

Re: Unreal
I'd like to point out that at least my threads here I made with intention for UT, like posting the UT versions of those weapons when I made them instead of also posting the Unreal ones. On oldunreal I only posted the Unreal ones for example.
I didn't post anything 227 specific here either, mind you. So I kept in mind the intention of this site.

Exactly.
If anything I post also works with U1, I will point that out, but most of what I have done is for UT, except for any
scriptedpawn/flockpawn stuff.
Those NewBirds I did long ago should work with U1 or UT.
The Beta4 version of the UTents should also work with both. (If not, the next release will....)
The FrickinSharks will be getting a U1 specific version out soon. Just gotta take out the scorchmark and recompile.
Still testing em online and off, to make sure the current UT version is the final on those. (I think it is.)
When I get around to that, an Unreal section here would be a good place to announce it.
All the stuff I have made in the past that does work with U1 will also work with UT. (If not, somebody tell me.)
If any of the stuff I have attempted to make work with U1 fails with 227, then that means there is something wrong with 227.
We should restrict the section to discussions about resources that will work with all versions, or details on how to make the various resources work
together with UT.
Any topics regarding U1 SP maps/missions, should be over at UnrealSP.org, and the other U1 and 227 stuff over at OldUnreal and where ever else that sort
of thing is being dealt with atm. (Except for stuff about the EXU2 and G59 stuff. That should be here also. I need to get that all updated. On and offline.)
Sorry if I am rambling a bit. Been sipping a few beers tonight.
Just a few thoughts from somebody who has been running U1 an UT content together, longer than anybody on the planet.

Re: Unreal
Or you guys just make a seperate section from this forum in the main entry called unreal wich dr flay allready did.
But the 2 games are compatible with eachother so why not.
Remember unreal was first releaseased then came ut99 based on nyleve, wich is an unreal level.
For all just like above posted oldunreal is a good website for beginning with unreal togeher with buf and the celtic warriors.
They have all patches online and seperated older pre 227 patches.
