Dr.Flay, the intent of my post was to clear some things up. You stated 'possibilities' whereas I stated 'facts'. Furthermore, you state that 'as far as you can tell all embedded resources are his'. As I pointed out in my previous post this isn't true.

Dr.Flay, most of the textures used in DM-1on1-Ferkin are UT2004 stock textures (including the plant textures). The few textures that are myleveled are mostly screenshots. The plant textures in BT-Heartcollector are from the UT-2004 map DM-1on1-Idoma by Sjoerd 'Hourences' de Jong. It looks like the textures from DM-1on1-Ferkin are a little bit different. I would encourage you to use the NWBT/BTME-mod. I've created it for other mappers to use and It's actually quite easy. You place the BTME_Mutator in the map. Very nice tutorial, but you forgot one very big con for meshes: They can not always be rendered correctly using the software-renderer/driver. For the record, to what Bloeb said, where copyrights are concerned they're not generally automatic. You have to file for one, they have offices and contracts for stuff like that.
