Custom Playermodel.
Custom Playermodel.
Hi I'm new here and I just want to ask you how can I make my own custom skins in Unreal Tournament 1999 is it possible? For instance I want to make skin for male slim human player NPC of Jazz Jackrabbit 3d model from Jazz Jackrabbit 3D alpha demo that was powered by Unreal Engine 1 of course.

Re: Custom Skins.
Before we get into that, at some point a moderator for this forum may tear you a new one for commenting on a thread that's so old. Usually more than a couple months dead, they prefer you start a new thread.gamerz31w wrote:Hi I'm new here and I just want to ask
It is possible, it is doable, and I do it. I'm a skinner... but my computer is down and getting repaired so some elements of that are hard to get into right now... don't have access to my stuff.gamerz31w wrote:you how can I make my own custom skins in Unreal Tournament 1999 is it possible?
You mean incorporate a skin for the Male Soldier designed after that character, or make a male model class of that character?gamerz31w wrote:For instance I want to make skin for male slim human player NPC of Jazz Jackrabbit 3d model from Jazz Jackrabbit 3D alpha demo that was powered by Unreal Engine 1 of course.
Modeling and skinning aren't exactly the same thing, though they're in the same wheelhouse.
I suggest starting a new thread in the skinning section, and we can take it from there - viewforum.php?f=13

Re: Custom Skins.
Not really. The post must fit the theme of the thread and have to add something valuable to the discussion like the post from sektor here viewtopic.php?p=106571#p106571 Then is a necro-bump acceptable.EvilGrins wrote:they prefer you start a new thread.
But in this case here ...it's a useless necro-bump. gamerz31w should have opened a new thread instead of posting here.
This is the important part. My guess is, gamerz31w doesn't know exactly what the difference is.EvilGrins wrote:Modeling and skinning aren't exactly the same thing, though they're in the same wheelhouse.
And I guess again, he wants to import a model from another game which also uses an Unreal Engine.

Re: Custom Skins.
I would like to learn to make a pack of skins using 1 single package, I have already seen many servers with this ...
the skinmake progran does not do this...

Re: Custom Skins.
Fortunately I skin without skinMaker.
Download this:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/nhvu0 ... r_Gorn.zip
And this:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/sn3jx ... _Squd3.zip
Those are both multi-skin packages, you can use Notepad.exe to view the .int files. Setup of the .int file allows for multiple skins, so long as you have it configured properly to work the skins in the related .utx files.
You may not be able to use the skins in the 2nd download, in-game, unless you have the original oldskool.u file, the more recent version isn't entirely compatible.
UT's default SoldierSkins.int and SoldierSkins.utx are prime examples as they came with the game.

What's interesting me now it's that if I have jazz jackrabbit 3d model from old jj3d alpha demo and I have some 3d model of male human NPC casual skin and what I want to do is to only swap his skeletal mesh.Is it possible to do this in Unreal Tournament 1999?

With some U-script knowledge it's certainly doable.gamerz31w wrote:What's interesting me now it's that if I have jazz jackrabbit 3d model from old jj3d alpha demo and I have some 3d model of male human NPC casual skin and what I want to do is to only swap his skeletal mesh.Is it possible to do this in Unreal Tournament 1999?

Yes, that's good start.gamerz31w wrote:Just like here in this another tutorial?

Edit--------------------------
I split the threads and made this an own topic, because it's clearly not related to skins but to player-models.

Re: Custom Playermodel.
I didn't rename it but cut it in two. And the second part starting with your post is this thread now.
Re: Custom Playermodel.
So can I swap skeletal meshes of character NPCs' in Blender not only in 3D Milkshape?
