Do you search a certain mutator, mod, skin, map, everything else?

Looking for these maps....

Post by JimmyCognitti »

First off, I hope you guys are doing fine in the middle of this world madness.
Now on topic, I'm looking for these maps: DM-Reactor_Sector_4_Inf and DM-Reactor_Sector_6_Inf, but I'm looking for versions of these maps that work with vanilla UT (without using Infiltration mod), is it possible to find such maps?
Thanks for your answers.

Think I found sector 4 here, 6 only the INF version so far.

Both of those maps do work OK in UT without using the infiltration mod - they are pathed but there aren't any pickups (weapons/health/armor), so I just use a StuffSwapper configuration with a range of weapons in the StartUp loadout. There are also StrikeForce (SFDM) and Swat (SW) versions - I haven't tried these yet and so don't know if or how well they work in UT without using those mods.

Per OjitroC, the pack above has all dependencies included and doesn't rely on any INF content.

Just to follow up what I said earlier - both maps have InventorySpots and NullAmmo so it would be possible to edit them to place weapons and other pickups without too much effort. The only other issue really is that the PlayerStarts are fairly tightly grouped so for a normal DM these would need to be reduced in number at least and possibly moved. They may be OK though for a TDM.

I should, perhaps, make it clear that I use these maps with MonsterSpawn rather than for a normal DM or TDM.

Sadly TDM game type ignores team related spawnpoints.
It would be cool if there would be a mutator/mod which put the teams in their proper team spaw-npoints.
We could create some special kind of maps with some kind of moveable payload
Or Counter Strike similar AS maps.

I didn't know that - so that's why there aren't any specific TDM maps?

Think someone already sent you a link, but I'm on the way out the door... so if that didn't pan out I can help you maybe later tonight.

I have both of those... and you don't need the Infiltration mod to use them.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

The StrikeForce and SWAT versions also work OK without running the respective mods but with the caveats I’ve outlined earlier. You do need to have those mods installed as there specific actors from them in the maps but as I say you don’t need to actually run the mods.

I don’t think there is much, if any, difference between the various versions but I haven’t looked at this in detail.

Not necessarily.

You don't need the mods installed but you do need some of the .u files in your main systems folder for elements from the mods. The actual mods aren't necessary, most of the Infiltration stuff I got from Infiltration-lite which was a collection of the files necessary but without the full conversion.

Yeah, that’s right - I should have been more explicit though I did obliquely hint at that by the reference to actors.

Having said that, if one wants to use maps (or weapons/pickups etc) from other mods, it is necessary to install all the music, sounds, textures and system files that came with the mod but if you aren’t going to actually run the mod, put any .exe, .int and .ini files somewhere off the UT path (in case you decide one day you do want to try the mod) - at least that’s what I do FWIW.

Well... not entirely.

In my earlier mapping days (if you can call my edits "mapping") I frequently took CTF & DOM maps and just changed their prefix to DM, and naturally you can play team games on any Deathmatch map.

Roundabout 2005 or so a mutator was released for CTF that forced players to spawn in on the side of the map recognized as belonging to their team (a lotta CTF maps you mostly spawn in on your side but sometimes very close to the borders of the other team's side) so this mutator compensated for that.

I'm not sure if I still have it (will check when I'm home) but I think it was called Enhanced Team Play... or something like that. Even then it was intended for CTF so I'm not sure what impact it would have on Deathmatch team games.

That's NBTeamGame by Beppo - here's the readme
Spoiler
================
- NBTeamGame -
================

This is a little mod from Beppo (N.Bogenrieder)

Its a modification of the TournamentGamePlus.

The new feature implemented:

You can decide to switch on/off bSpawnInTeamArea for a normal
TeamGame (not supported in the original UT).

So, map designers can 'plan' where each team member starts up!

You will find it under the GameTypes: "Enhanced TeamGame"
On the Rules page is the checkbox for turning "Spawn in TeamArea"
on and off.

The original idea is from Bastard'o also an Infiltration Team member
like myself.

have fun playing it.

all scripts are for free use of course... rip it, change it as you like!

Beppo Dec'99
Looks as though it should work for TDM - I know I have used it in the past but I honestly can't remember if it does work.
