This is absolutely the best game you can find. There is nothing like it. So go for it.
Do not feel discouraged, the game is simple, but ceiling is high. Just keep at it one day at a time and you will do alright. Most of all, have fun.

I'm new in the UT99 community, but I played the game back in the days.
If it is difficult to cope with the single player arena part, then I have some videos with tips and tricks on my youtube channel that may be able to improve your ability to move around the map and thus give you the game knowledge and ability you need to be able to win.
