Found this screenshot on facebook with no description, and I already asked the person who posted it... but there's no way to know when or if he's ever going to respond.
So, does this look familiar at all?
Can anybody identify this map?

The thought had occurred, but none of those are the right map.

Hi EvilGrins,
the original map is DM-(ASC)Checkmate by ASC sniper clan, a "punky" map with triggers and secrets.
there are also some modded versions around (I played them in the past on different sniper servers), including the one built by CoN team.

Re: Can anybody identify this map?
Yes, that is the problem with the UT file hosting existing now they just store each and every file they think is related to ut99 not thinking about if its worth sharing. Many maps and mod exists in many beta version and ripped/copied while only file needed to store for future is the original released version and not some copycats version like the link I gave to Lothars map in question. Boil the file services down to usefull stuff and only 20% will remain - at max. No arguments anyone will bring up will make me change my view on this matter.
I should ofcause have linked to : https://unrealarchive.org/maps/unreal-t ... 677c2.html and not the copycat useless version.

I agree with Dennis. I'm not a big fan of "modifications" either.Dennis wrote: ↑Mon Sep 12, 2022 3:34 pm I should of course have linked to : https://unrealarchive.org/maps/unreal-t ... 677c2.html and not the copycat useless version.
Way too many, copies, knock-offs, rip-offs, stolen, botched, maps out there.
I noticed in the =CoN= version, they deleted the author's name and photograph.
Classy.

Re: Can anybody identify this map?
true but the greatness of this game is also the possibility to mod almost everything to build your own stuff.
there's only one basic rule all modders should follow: leave credits to original authors and report mods carried out. people don't like writing (this is a boring or annoying process for modders) so they simply don't do it and this sometimes can generate problems to game users: the problem is not modding, it's just the lack of correct documentation.

Re: Can anybody identify this map?
I couldn't say it better.
Note: It was pathed normally, geometry seems to have some flaws concerning whatever reporting. By "fixing" said issues all build goes nowhere with both 436 and 469b. Solution is: do not "fix" it.
And then ? And then screenshot with texture having 512 × 512 doesn't include any flaw toward D3D render - personally I did bigger ones and tested D3D, if some new types of "Textures" are trash, that's another story. Except some pathing this map really doesn't need anything touched. The only issue with said ScreenShot is presenting a Shield in one of its frames which doesn't even exist - with other words a fake.Editor.log wrote: ScriptLog: LevelInfo.Screenshot size not 256x256: 512x512

Re: Can anybody identify this map?
Are you sure? The photos have certainly gone as all the rooms with the 'goodies' have been deleted from the v =CoN= version but the LevelInfo properties are the same in both maps and Lothar's name appears as the author (and so appears in the three screenshots that are identical in both versions).

Re: Can anybody identify this map?
Yes, thanks for clarifying that Oji. They didn't delete the map's LevelInfo properties, they deleted his MyLevel properties, including all the clan members.
